Recently Read–Royal Blood

Gothic Girl Raven Madison’s world is turned upside down when the summer days filled with spending time with her vampire boyfriend, Alexander, come to an end. First of all, she’s forced to go to school (blech!!) where she’s tormented by her lifetime nemesis, Trevor. Making things worse, she has to be partners with Trevor. At least Raven has Alexander. That is, until his parents come to visit. Then, things go downhill even more when Alexander’s parents want him to move back with them to Romania. Luckily, Raven is here to save the day.

Ahh, I love this book. Short, but entertaining. I love the over exaggerated gothic-ness. It’s hilarious. And the characters are people we all know. Raven: the freak (no offense!! I love goth people) Alexander: the outsider. Trevor: jock. Becky: the best friend.

I would most definitely recommend this book to anyone. But read the first five books in the series first!!!

Also by Ellen Schreiber:

Vampire Kisses, Kissing Coffins, Vampireville, Dance with a Vampire, Coffin Club

Recently Read–Daughter of Darkness

Daughter of Darkness is about a teenagee girl, Lorelei, who is brought up to believe love is poison. She knows that her sisters bring home victims for her father, a vampire, and that her time to deliver is coming soon. But when that time comes, she falls in love with the victim. Shes forced to turn her back on the only life she’s ever known in order to save her lovers life.

My opinion: I’ve got to say I was pretty dissapointed. V.C. Andrews is one of my favorite authors and I was expecting much more. Really, the only reason I knew the book was about vampires was because of the back cover. They only used the word ‘vampire’ at the very end, and that was only once. I thought “hey, my favorite author+vampire book=epic”. Nope. I was wrong. Yes, I would recommend this book though. But you’d be better off reading one of V.C. Andrews earlier stories. Example: “Ruby(Landry Series)”, “Heaven(Casteel Series)” or “Melody(Logan Series)”.

I doubt there will be a sequel. But if there is, I really hope it’s better than this one.

Recently Read–Eagleton Coven:Amaretto Flame

Olivia Landry is a Wise-One, a good witch. She grew up with the only real family she’s ever had, the other members of the Eagleton Coven. Believing she wasn’t worthy, she refused to let anyone get close to her. The closest anyone ever got was her coven brother, Everett. But when Olivia is banished to Staves for breaking a coven rule, she meets Jackson Vance. Jackson, a sexy guitar player with Amaretto colored eyes, manages to find a way into Olivia’s heart, though she denies it. In Amaretto Flame, Olivia, Jackson, and the rest of the Eagleton Coven, are forced to fight against the Venator, the bad witches. All of their work pays off. Olivia and Jackson are safe for now, and deeply in love.

I think my favorite part about ECAF was the fact that it isn’t overly popular(yet). And that I had the chance to actually communicate with author Sammie Spencer(@AuthorSammie) via Twitter. Sammie has a great ability for details. I could really picture the scenes as if I were there along with the characters. I loved that although it’s a paranormal romance, the characters were very human, and believable. Thank you Sammie, for such a great story <3 Can’t wait for the sequel!! Keep up the good work

Listening to: Hollywood Undead

I love Hollywood Undead. Seriously, they are amazing. Made up of Da Kurlz(sp?), Charlie Scene, Johnny 3 Tears, J-Dog, The Producer, and Funny Man, these guys have some great songs. They also always wear masks, specially made for them. I think it’s their way of saying “we want you to like our music, not our looks” (even though they are some hot guys!! especially J3T). I could go on and on about how great they are, but I won’t. I’ll save you from my horrible writing skills :) Here are some of my favorite songs by them:

Everywhere I Go

 Here Me Now

Black Dahlia

Paradise Lost

City

Go listen to them!!! :D

Recently Read–Willow by Julia Hoban

Willow is a very touching story for me. Being a cutter myself for almost two years, I could relate to the main character. Willow is a teen who believes she killed her parents after a tragic car accident. Moving in with her brother and his wife, along with their baby daughter, Willow becomes a cutter to block out the emotional pain. Her brother, David, is a college professor and manages to get her a job at the college library. There, she meets Guy. Cute, sensitive Guy finds out about her cuts and threatens to tell David. Willow manages to convince him not to, but Guy won’t leave her alone. After the accident that killed her parents, Willow became estranged from peers and her brother. By the end of the story she and Guy evolve into a loving relationship, she turns to her brother for help on a school assignment, and becomes friends with a group of students at her school. She also becomes strong enough to slowly stop cutting. This book was the best book I’ve ever read to be honest. It gave me the inspiration to finally give up on my cutting. Thank you, Julia Hoban.
